Atlas Van Lines Receives Honorary Award from Indiana Region Six Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)

Press Release from Atlas Logistics

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (June 30, 2014) — Atlas Van Lines, one of the nation's leading movers, has been named a recipient of the Honored Employer Award by the Indiana Military Support Corporation and Region Six of the Indiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). This local award, presented at the 6th Annual Region Six Employer Appreciation Day, serves to recognize employers who support the Guard and Reserve employees.

The local ESGR Region Six team considered several companies nominated by service members, ESGR Committee Members, and others in the region, and chose Atlas as one of three 2014 Award Recipients.

Exactly one year ago to date, Atlas World Group became the first Indiana company to sign a national Statement of Support with the ESGR, pledging that:

  • Atlas fully recognizes, honors and enforces the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).
  • Atlas managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • Atlas appreciates the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans.
  • Atlas will continually recognize and support our country's service members and their families in peace, crisis and in war.

"Atlas has always had a strong commitment to military service men and women, and we'll always admire their global perspective, leadership and other quality characteristics," said Glen Dunkerson, CEO of Atlas World Group, Inc. "We're thrilled to receive a prestigious award from the ESGR, and we'll continue our mission of helping to provide employment opportunities while also dedicating time and resources to help our military transition from deployment to employment in today's world."

Other ways Atlas shows support for our nation's military personnel includes being a leader in advocating for changes in law to allow military experience to be used to help obtain a civilian professional work license; supporting the Indiana Military Support Corporation's (IMSC) Annual Golf Scramble fundraiser; donating a refurbished van to the Retired Veterans Memorial Club free of cost; writing in-depth articles focused on active duty members and their families for company publications and Honor Flight; amongst much more.
